The disease caused by Feline Herpesvirus (FHV), also known as feline viral rhinotracheitis clinically, is a common respiratory system disease in cats. FHV replicates and proliferates in the epithelial cells of the conjunctiva and upper respiratory tract, as well as in neuronal cells; infection of neurons leads to lifelong latent infection. Clinically, the virus enters the cat's body through the mouth, nose, conjunctiva and other routes, thereby causing lytic infection of the ocular and nasal mucosal epithelial cells, and spreads to the conjunctiva, pharynx, trachea, bronchi and small bronchi. The lesions are local multiple necrotic (neutrophil infiltration) and inflammatory foci, visually characterized mainly by increased ocular and nasal discharge, depression and ocular inflammation.
Clinically affected cats with FHV
need to be differentially diagnosed from Feline Calicivirus, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia and Bordetella. Clinically commonly used FHV antigen colloidal gold test cards or fluorescent lateral flow assays have extremely low detection rates due to the sensitivity problems of mAb raw materials, and require real-time PCR for confirmation. To solve the mAb raw material problem, Qianxun Bio successfully developed 6 FHV mAbs, all of which can react with native virus and perform excellently in indirect immunofluorescence assays, available for research customers.
